About us

The rich craft tradition of our family goes back to the late 19th century, when our great-grandfather sent his children to school in Graz. The eldest son, after graduating in Graz opens locksmith, other brother joined him and after specialization he went to Brussels where he started his own workshop. The third son specializes in the manufacture of artistic furniture and fourth son, upon completion of education and extensive work experience throughout Europe (Belgium, the Netherlands, England, etc.) returned to Croatia. Initially he lead a family workshop in capital of Croatia, Zagreb and eventually began working in his workshop in Kumrovac. His son John since 1956th worked in Germany in the field of mechanical engineering (production and installation of machinery for the production of joinery), by returning to Kumrovec in 1967 he opens craft specialized for transportation and in 1978 the metal foundry. Foundry opens on the basis of the obtained copyright by Anthony Augustin for molding busts of politician Josip Broz Tito (miniature monuments in Kumrovac) and other miniatures of famous sculptor (small plastic). Gradually, the production of industrial castings take precedence and art castings are representing just one percent of nowadays total production. In the 80s along with father, mother opens craft and with their retirement...

... sons Dragutin and Nikola Ulama became owners of craft. Foundry "DUNI" today counts 10 employees and annually processes about 150 tons of castings from alloys of brass and bronze.
